Crazy Driving

What happens when your girlfriend is coming by a train and u have to receive her at station and u r already bit late and traffic is helping to increase delay.....

Thursday 2nd August.

Nikhil n I decided to meet Sudarshan at IIT. Plan was that i will go to Sudu's room and will try to get as much of data as i can in 3-4 hours. Nikhil will join me at 5-5.30 pm. I will handover HDD n iPod to him. Then he will go to Chembur to receive his girlfriend n i will go home.

Plan was very simple and can be done easily..... there was no tension at all.

We left Mulund at 2.15 pm nearly 20 mins late due to me.... (or was it usual?)
Nik dropped me at Powai gate... and he left for his uncle's place.
As decided, i collected all data required, which was already collected by Sudu. :-)
It was 5.30 when i started to worry as Nik was running late due to some reason.... and there was no call from his side....

I decided to tell him to go directly to Chembur n i will deliver data at home directly. But next moment i got call from Nik. He came to hostel at 5.50pm.
We took everything required and left IIT at 6.10pm.
Nik told me that his GF is coming by train instead of bus. So he was going to Thane station.
I decided to go till Thane station as it was better for me too....
He also added that she was at Karjat at 5.25 pm. Its nearly a hour journey from Karjat to Thane.
That means she was going to reach Thane at 6.25 pm. Only 15 mins to reach station.

Actual story starts here....

As we came out of IIT main gate.... first thing tht we noticed was a Cambodian Girl (Sorry Nik... i thought it was imp from my point of view). Beautiful !!!!!!!
And very next thing we noticed was that .... Huge Traffic...

Its there Nik started losing his patience. Lucky he... that the traffic started to move...
It was Bumper to bumper Drive till Gandhi Nagar flyover.
After that we decided to fasten our seat belts. Nik's was first car to pick up the speed after signal turns Green.

To his bad Luck... there was traffic on Highway too.... n Rain was helping to decrease normal speed of vehicles on Highway...
Time was running out.... We decided to go ZigZag. It was horrible.... At speed of 90Km/h we were changing lanes. Thats the thing i haven't even tried in NFS.

Nik's car is Maruti 800 ..... India's so called lowest model in cars. We were driving with cars which have double the engine n surely much more speed than Maruti 800.
Actually.... we weren't driving with them.... We were just overtaking them like they r bullock carts. There were Zen, Indica, WagonR, Indigo, Swift, Indigo, City, Esteem, Accord, Corolla even Camry n Honda Civic.

We covered Gandhi Nagar flyover to Mulund-Airoli flyover in less than 7 mins.
It was 6.25pm at that time.... and ahead of us was Mulund signal with Traffic....
Nik was now more concerned about reaching at Station in time.... it was like Do or Die situation for him.... n he wanted to win at any cost.....
Second headache was Tollbooth. Again traffic .... it took nearly 3 mins just to leave Mumbai behind.

We reached Thane station at 6.35pm. Already late... and situation wasn't helping..... Next problem was Parking space.... Station's parking was already full....
Nik called her... she just left Dombivali at that time.... so we had 4-5 mins to search for a parking space...

We were blaming rain for making us late.... but it helped us by making trains run late.

It was trilling experience.... In heavy rain seating beside a driver who is in tension to reach the place in time and driving car like a Jet.

I don't remember how many other drivers shouted at us while changing lanes and cutting road.

We were a bit careless about potholes on the road as the Device of Potholes detection for cars was under primary stage under Sudu n his guides. Sudu people don't have time to check potholes when they are in hurry.... so don't put much effort on developing it.... hehehe.

I know this is not a blog Nik u expected from me..... But as i told u it will be difficult for me to write a blog of such experience in Eng.
I will write a good one in Marathi... u will have to translate it for ur friends.
